12 best hikes around the U.S. and Canada

Behind the Outdoorsy brand are a lot of outdoorsy folks — which makes writing blogs like this pretty easy. Selfishly, I reached out to said folks about their favorite trails to add to a bucket list of my own. Lucky for you, however, I like to share!

So, without any further introduction, here are the best hikes across the lands — as recommended by Outdoorsy.

Conundrum Creek Trail

In White River National Forest, Conundrum Creek Trail is an 18-mile out-and-back trail. The difficult hike is made especially worth it by Conundrum Hot Springs, in all its 100° F glory within the 181,976-acre Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness.

Highly recommend the hike to Conundrum Hot Springs in early fall (after the summer crowds, but before the winter snowfall). It’s absolutely gorgeous – and what’s better than being rewarded by hot springs after a day of hiking?

One of the best trails? Santa Elena Canyon Trail. This 1.5-mile trail takes you through the 1,500-foot cliffs that form the canyon wall and is a good one for all skill levels.

The massive cliff face, known as the Chief, is one of North America’s largest granite monoliths. It is divided into three peaks all accessible from the main Chief Hiking Trail in Stawamus Chief Provincial Park.

The Grouse Grind

An approximately 2-mile trail leads up the face of Grouse Mountain. Doesn’t seem too bad, right? Well, not to scare you, it is widely known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.” It was first developed in 1981 by mountaineers looking for a challenging workout that would help sustain them for longer hikes.

If you feel like dying, the Grouse Grind in Vancouver is an option. I don’t have a photo because I quite literally thought it was going to be the end of me!
