RecommandationsFrom Anchorage, you can go north or south and within minutes of leaving this "urban" place, you will find yourself in the true "Alaska."
Whittier, Hope, Turnagain Pass, Seward, Cooper Landing, Sterling, Kenai/Soldotna, and Homer are all fantastic camping destinations south of Anchorage.
North is, of course, Denali- The Majestic One- with camping, hiking and wildlife beyond compare.
There are many beautiful places in between and no shortage of great stops for adventure, food, wildlife viewing, and just plain peace, quiet, and fresh Alaskan air!
Autres points à signaler-Please note that there are many areas, even on highly traveled roads to popular destinations, where there is no cell service.
-Please note that there are large stretches of road where there are no gas stations so be sure to plan your gas-ups accordingly.
-Sadly, we cannot accommodate pets at this time- pet hair is so hard to clean up.
-If your adventure includes fishing, we kindly ask that you DO NOT clean fish in or near the vehicle. If storing fish in your cooler, understand that bears are attracted to all food and especially fish smell, so choose wisely when handling and storing fish and fishing gear! Stay smart and stay safe!
-Fish smells, messes and other "accidents" may result in additional fees and affect your return deposit. Please be extra careful when enjoying your fishing adventure in our vehicle!
-While we understand you are here for the adventure, our car is NOT an off-road vehicle and common sense must be used when deciding where and where not to go.
-Because the Denali Highway (not to Denali herself, but the 135 mile road between Cantwell and Paxson) has such variable conditions and has very limited cell service, our car may not be taken on this adventure. The same holds true for the road to McCarthy and we appreciate your understanding.
-Skilak Loop road is allowable but understand that it is bumpy and often rutted/not graded so you must take care if you plan to take this route.
*Gas tank will be full when you arrive- please make sure it is full upon return to avoid fees (cost of refilling tank plus $25).

My husband and I have lived in Alaska for 25 years and have enjoyed many adventures along the way. We were tent campers for many, many years before buying a truck and camper after our family grew. Some of my most favorite memories involve our tent camping years and I sure wish that rooftop tents were more of a "thing" back in those days! As a host, I am hoping to help others enjoy the great Alaskan outdoors in a safe and exciting way, with a reliable vehicle and sturdy place to rest after a day of adventuring! I am happy to help with trip planning and recommendations so questions are always welcome. I want all visitors to have a "trip of a lifetime," when they visit this amazing place that never fails to amaze me, even after all these years.

This was my first rental on outdoorsy and Mindy made it an absolute dream! The Subaru drove great with no issues at all. The tent was spacious enough for 2 including my 6’3” self. Setup took very little time or effort. Definitely spent more time getting sleeping stuff into the tent than setting it up. The Alaskan weather was cold and wet and we were warm enough with 20° sleeping bags and a blanket on top, though we cheated and used hand warmers in the sleeping bags for a boost. The weather was wet and even with venting we had some condensation on the inner walls but that’s just camping in cold wet climates.
I would definitely recommend using this vehicle/tent for your own Alaskan camping adventure.

This was the best way to experience Alaska. Mindy was extremely helpful with suggestions and responded to us quickly. The Outback runs great, the rooftop tent is extremely user friendly and kept us dry in heavy rain.

Mindy was accommodating and helped us first-time RV travelers navigate the ins and outs of camping in Alaska. The tent was super comfortable and easy to set up and take down. One downside is the inside can get quite wet due to condensation but it didn't cause us many issues. Gear provided was more than adequate.

Mindy was so helpful throughout the entire trip. She helped us with an itinerary to get the most out of our Alaska experience. She provided add-ons like really warm, sleeping bags and cook stove for a very reasonable price. She was responsive and a delight to work with. The tent was super comfortable. I give her the highest rating.
